Apostille pricing across the industry is deliberately confusing. Many services quote a single "apostille fee" that silently bundles the state's $20 filing fee, the vendor's own service fee, return shipping, and sometimes a surprise notary or translation charge — so two identical documents can cost $79 at one site and $299 at another. We split every line so you can see exactly what you are paying for and choose the level of help that matches your comfort, deadline, and document type.

Self-Service Kit — best when you have already done this once

The kit gives you the same document-specific instructions, mailing labels, and Secretary of State cover sheet we would use internally, but you handle the notary, the postage, and the mailing yourself. It is the least expensive path and works well if your document is standard (a birth certificate, a marriage certificate, a notarized power of attorney), if you have a flexible timeline, and if you have handled a certified mailing before. There is no packet-matching at this tier — we only prepare the packet you tell us you need.

DIY+ Pre-Submission Check — the most-popular middle path

Everything in the Self-Service Kit plus one Pre-Submission Check of your specific document before you mail it. Choose a $10 AI review for a $20 apostille-packet total, or a $40 human specialist review for a $50 total. The AI check usually completes within minutes and flags common issues such as an incomplete notary block, an outdated certified copy, or the wrong document version. For legalization packets, the $20 packet price makes the totals $30 with AI or $60 with a human specialist.

Full Service — hand the whole thing to us

Full Service is for customers who do not want to touch any of the mechanics: we obtain the certified copy from the proper issuing office where allowed, coordinate the notary if one is needed, prepare the packet, file with the Secretary of State (with the option to add Walk-In Service for a 1–3 business-day counter turnaround after the runner receives the California-issued document), and ship the finished apostille back to any address in the world with tracked delivery. Government fees, third-party notary fees, and outbound shipping are billed pass-through and itemized on your final invoice — they are not marked up.

Non-Hague destinations
